Why did you select the MSIDT program at CSUF?
When I make major decisions in my life, I don’t put a whole lot of thought into it like I do my minor decisions, like buying a juicer (Isn’t that funny?) I usually have a few important criteria in mind and I trust God with the rest. My criteria for choosing the MSIDT program was that it would be totally online so that I could be in China and that it was located within California so that I would qualify for State residency. I don’t have the insight into the span of my short life on Earth so I depend on God to lead me through it all.
What are two topics that you learned about in your MSIDT program (so far) that support your ID career?
I would say collaboration is one of the major topics I have learned in this program. It is a very different experience to learn mainly from peers in a group setting, constructing our instructional design knowledge together. I have grown up in a lecture style classroom where I had very loose connections to my classmates, if at all. It is very exciting to work on a team, creating and designing a learning project.
The second thing that this program has made possible is the accessibility to a myriad of technological applications, software, and training. Working within a homeschooling environment can be both freeing and limiting at times. I absolutely love learning how to use software like Adobe Captivate, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, as well as developing for the web and perhaps even app making.
